are you using that car?

Friday, November 30th, 2007

I picked up Tiffany (the roomie) from the park yesterday, with the dogs.  Since I have manual locks, I forgot to go around and lock her side when we all got out.  Flash forward to this morning, I’m getting in the car and notice that my seat is reclined all the way - someone slept in my car.  Someone found my unlocked car and decided to claim it for the night.  That’s special.  They also decided to leave their baseball cap (some Arizona team) and an empty bag from Wendy’s.  This is kinda strange/impressive, since there isn’t even a Wendy’s nearby!  Perhaps someone else dropped them off.  I have no idea, but I’m going to be a lot more careful when I get out of the car from now on.

I can crochet!

Kinda like men triumph when they can hunt and fish and…whatever else it is they are “supposed” to do, I am reveling in my crafting and culinary abilities this weekend.  I recently decided to take up crocheting again - I have, I don’t know, five projects I’ve started and never finished.  I’m proud to annouce the completion of project #1.

So stuffed right now.  Beth came up for Thanksgiving (yay!) and we cooked our own meal :)  Bonnie, Beth, David and I had a grand time eating ourselves silly.  I learned how to make apple pie and mashed potatoes from scratch - and I made the green bean casserole myself!

Here I am with the casserole:

Fun in the Mountains I

We took Toby and Beau to Shenandoah National Park over the long weekend.   It was overcast on Skyline Drive, our orginal destination, the park ranger said visibility was only 100 feet in the mountains.

The puppies had an awesome time, and it was great to get away from the city for a day.

Here they are, surrounded by leaves.  Toby and Beau ran around forever, kicking them up and racing down to the river.  Toby even came close to drowning….in the leaves, that is.  They were really deep in some parts (at least for him!).

There’s nothing Toby loves more than sticks and water.

David caught this great shot of Beau running towards the river.

Fun in the Mountains II

Ok, this picture is HILARIOUS, for a couple of reasons.  1) Toby looks Asian.  2) He looks MORE Asian than me.  3) The dognappers accused me of neglecting Toby to the point that he was “haunted by human touch.”  I kid you not.  Which is why his happiness in this picture, with me (THE NEGLECTOR), delightens me to no end.

Beau loves to cuddle and it was really easy to get him to stay still while David took this shot.

I always try and take pictures holding out the camera and I always manage to make my face look contorted and huge when I do it…except for this time. I found that if I look away from the camera while holding out my arm at a weird angle, things turn out ok :).

The drive up (and back) was beautiful.  The leaves were at peak in some parts and made for some fantastic views.
