Green Fountainhead

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

I went to Chicago over St. Patty’s Day weekend, to attend a conference for school. It was my first visit to the Windy City (named for its Politics, not the weather - although, it was hella windy there) and I had a great time.

The only dissapointment was not seeing the bloody river dyed green; I snuck out of the conference just to watch it happen. A huge crowd was gathered all up and down the banks.

I waited forever but it never happened! Eventually I left and headed back to the hotel.  On the way there, I found this:

 It’s not a river, but it’ll do.

Hahah, the best thing I saw that weekend was this boat on the river:

I would have loved to have met the owners.

This is Kandace, my roomie, and me before the opening reception.

You know you can’t read that, right?

You bought a brand-new Lexus SUV.

You decide to get yourself a Vanity Plate.

You drive right in front of me today.

The stupid thing says:

NO CARBS

A sign from God?  Perhaps.

Seriously, though, if I don’t eat them does that mean I will get a new Lexus?

‘Cause if it does, we might be able to work something out.

I wish I were blonde…

I have a mega girl crush on Reese Witherspoon.  I can’t help it.  She’s way too pretty.  I neglected to post about her Oscar Dress (it was gorgeous) but even better than that was how she looked.

She’s stunning.  Growing up, I wanted to have blonde hair, hell even a brown would do, and blue eyes.  I know, it’s the ethnic person’s complex (whatever).  I wanted to look like Reese.

I’ve mainly gotten past that - except for when I see time-period movies and realize I can’t star in them…..not that I actually ACT.  Reese is on the cover of the new Harper’s Bazaar, which I normally don’t read but you can probably guess I’ll be picking this copy up.

I needed to give a shout-out to Fergie for spelling shit correctly in her songs.  Honestly, the number of hip-hop artists that butcher the english language is pitiful.  It’s the reason my middle schoolers can’t spell “ludicrous.”  Ahem.  But I digress.  Fergie has a song named “Glamorous” and what do you know, she spells it like every adult in the world!  How hard was that??  Also, she knows how to spell “delicious.”  Fine, so she calls her self “Fergalicious,” that’s a totally separate subject.  As least it’s not a real word to begin with.

So I’ve always thought Eva Longoria was cute.  However, after seeing her recent spread for Bebe I’m totally floored by how gorgeous she looks.

Seriously?!  She’s 32 and looks 21.  Amazing.

Also, I really loved her birthday dress:

Malina!

Monday, March 12th, 2007

My cousin, Noke, had her baby about two months ago.  Her name is Malina, rhymes with Selena, and I wish I could have found the upside-down exclamation point (Espanol) to put in front of her name as well.  Even though her name sounds hispanic, I doubt she’ll be confused for such (unlike me).  Noke moved here from Thailand in 1987, when she was 18, and lived with my family until she married (her first marriage).  She’s the closest thing (bloodwise) that I have to a sister, so this little piglet is basically my niece!

To the Front…

We had a good snowfall a couple of weeks ago, so Dan and I took Toby out to play.

He loves to pee when he first goes outside:

Toby loves to shake the snow off:

Toby finds snow very interesting:

Dan found a pig!

But he’s really just a monster (he LOVES eating snowballs!):

This is the only time of year he’s not hot.  Look how content the polar bear is:
